Green Tea can Help with Weight Loss and Diabetes
According to a recent study, Green Tea can help with weight loss and diabetes. To determine if green tea has the potential to control body weight and regulate glucose in type 2 diabetes, Jae-Hyung Park and his colleagues from the Keimyung University School of Medicine in the Republic of Korea conducted a study on this . In the study, the researchers tested the effects of green tea extract on body weight and glucose intolerance in both diabetic mice and normal mice fed a high-fat diet.
Results showed that green tea extract in isolation did not give any improvements in body weight and glucose intolerance. However, when green tea extract was given with polyethylene glycol, there was a significant reduction in body weight gain, insulin resistance and glucose intolerance in both normal mice on a high fat diet and diabetic mice. Also, the effects of the green tea extract in both the intestines and in the circulation were measurable at doses, which could be achieved by drinking green tea on a daily basis. The effects of green tea extract were comparable to those found when taking two of the drugs, which are currently recommended for non-insulin dependent diabetes. So Green Tea can help with weight loss and diabetes indeed.
It’s one more reason to be drinking Green Tea, whether you have type two diabetes or not. It’s definitely a great step forward and another point for Green Tea.
Green tea is already quite a drink, with all of the benefits it provides ( and more being discovered, it seems, everyday). According to recent research, Green tea may help us get that much greener outside the teacup. There is now the possibility of Green Tea biodiesel.
Researchers have found that some compounds in green tea could lead to more biodiesel production. Scientists at the University of California found several compounds in green tea boosted the oil production by green microscopic algae, what bio diesel is made of.
The researchers grew the cultures in culture volumes up to about a pint in size but figure that some of the compounds could be cost-effective when moved up to 12,000-gallon ponds. Plus, the leftover algae mass after the oil is removed still would make a good animal feed. This Green Tea Biodiesel helps all around.
This new development is one more reason to be pouring more of the that green tea. Something with all those health benefits – no wonder it helps algae grow. It’s one thing us and algae have in common. While they make Green Tea biodiesel, we can improve our health – and that’s one thing to raise our glasses to.
Everyday there seem to be more and more studies about the wonders of Green tea. Among its benefits include the ability to reduce fat by inhibiting the growth of fat cells. The fat loss is due to reducing fat absorption from the gut as well as causing changes in the metabolism of fat cells themselves.
Green Tea EGCG,which is a component of green tea, has been shown to protect the heart in many ways, including lowering blood pressure by relaxing arteries. Several studies have also shown that EGCG helps prevent strokes. When strokes do occur, they are much less severe when green tea extract is given. A recent study using cells from people with rheumatoid arthritis found that green tea EGCG also inhibited the “inflammatory cytokines” associated with the disease. Researchers concluded that green tea extract held much promise in the ability to reduce the joint and tissue destruction associated with rheumatoid arthritis. It has been shown to reduce inflammation in the intestines, which would be important in treating inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis.
Recent studies have also linked green tea with a reduced risk of several cancers including breast, colon and skin.
EGCG even reduces the brain’s generation of toxic beta amyloid, the main feature in the Alzheimer’s brain.
In addition, a growing number of studies show that green tea and white tea have powerful antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal activity. Studies have shown that green tea extract,or EGCG, enhances the effectiveness of antibiotics against a number of diseases
So, the next time you take antibiotics, drink several cups of strong white tea daily. The antibiotics will be more effective.
So next time you drink Green Tea, for health or for fun, you can thank green tea EGCG for all those benefits.
Though we all know how processed tea look like. Many people actually don’t know how high quality fresh preprocessed leaves from the camellia sinensis plant look like.
We came across these fresh tea leaves in yunnan in a village near Kun Ming . These loose leaves are consisting of100% tea buds. For the price of 300 usd per kg it was a bit too expensive to source
These leaves are really near perfection. We won’t find much better than this. Only the hardcore pu erh tea fan with deep pockets will consider tea processed from these leaves.
Still we find these leaves really overpriced. A few years ago these would be half the current prices. Luckily, we still are able to find some high quality leaves for only a fraction of this price.
Soon we will launch a new selection of pu erh teas! So stay tuned!
Tea has long been lauded for it’s health qualities and ability to suppress appetite, even being able to encourage weight loss. In a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry it is found that tea does much more than that – Researchers at Kobe University found that the regular consumption of tea also suppressed damaging changes in the blood linked to fatty foods that can lead to type 2 diabetes, reports media. In this study some mice were given a high fat diet and others a normal diet. Each of these two groups were then split into smaller groups and given water, black tea or green tea for 14 weeks. Both types of tea suppressed body weight gain and the build-up of belly fat linked to a fatty diet. Black tea, which is used in most ordinary cuppas, also counteracted the harmful effects on the blood normally associated with a high-fat diet. These included increases in cholesterol, high blood glucose and insulin resistance – a precursor to type 2 diabetes where the body does not efficiently use the insulin it produces.
This is amazing news for all of us – whether you want to drop a few pounds, prevent diseases or just get healthy in general. Not only will tea help you shed the pounds, but help prevent serious health problems. Especially with the recent news of Green Tea preventing stroke, it’s one more reason to drink cup after cup of tea – and of different kinds. It could just save your life.
The Lipton Institute of Tea has recently revealed research at the American Middle East Congress in Dubai that revealed that tea can improve focus and mood. Dr. Jane Rycroft,Category Nutrition Manager for Tea-based Beverages & Member of Lipton Institute of Tea, found that key ingredients in tea could impact positive mood and that those same ingredients could help develop focus and attention. She also states that there are additional benefits also associated with regular tea drinking, including a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. She added,
”The positive effects of tea on enhancing blood vessels is mainly attributed to the fact that tea is a rich source of flavonoids, which are beneficial compounds also found in fruits and vegetables,”
Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water. A recent UK study also showed that consuming 4 cups of tea a day was as hydrating as drinking the equivalent amount of water.
All of this is monumental news in the world of tea drinking. Not only are all those artists, scientists, writers and poets right about drinking tea for focus and creativity, but the news of the hydration that tea provides – that is one powerful cup you’re wielding. So pour wisely, you might write the next great work, discover some great discover, or even just have a really great day – who knows? I’m sure to have another cup of it tonight.
GREEN TEA ALZHEIMER: According to a recent research by the University of Michigan, Green tea can slow and prevent Alzheimers. Researchers found that green tea contains a molecule that slows the accumulation of specific proteins in the brain that are believed to trigger the disease. These proteins, metal-associated amyloids, are not only responsible for Alzheimer’s but for other neurodegenerative disorders. The molecule in green tea, called epigallocatechin-3 gallate , slows the growth of the disease causing proteins and also breaks down existing structures in the proteins.
Alzheimer’s is one of the leading causes of deaths in the US and gets worse as time goes on. It causes problems for the sufferer in performing the daily tasks. Those suffering from it also have trouble with problem solving and memorization. Everywhere people watch parents and grandparents and friends lose memory of them, of their lives, the ability to do what they once were able to do. This is an amazing discovery on the road to eradicating this pain and loss forever. On that note, drink to memory and, with that cup of green tea in your hand, the ability to keep it.
I saw this enormous pu erh tea at an expo in Yunnan. The farmer put the pu erh tea for further fermentation in a dead tree, allowing the pu erh tea to obtain a woody taste. Unfortunately didn’t allow the visitors to taste Anyways the pu erh tea tree was just there for attracting visitors to there expo stand. The fermentation of the inner layers of pu erh tea would be slower than the outside that is more exposed to air. This is not optimal for fermentation. Sooo actually quiet a waste…i bet they didn’t use the best pu erh tea collection for this
Today i tried a white da hong pao tea. I actually never heard of this oolong tea variety.
The picture above show the white da hong pao on the right and the usual da hong pao on the left. The white version has a lighter green color. The farmer created this tea with lower temperature processing for a resulting in a tie guan yin like aroma. The tea tastes totally different from the the traditional da hong pao which has a strong flavor. Even though the idea is really nice. I am not sure whether there is a place foe this tea in the market. It doesnt have the layered complexity of tie guan yin and the taste differs so much that can’t actually just put a da hong pao label on it. Farmers are getting more creative nowadays because the market for clear tasting teas are growing. Let’s see when real star teas are born.
